My office PC is on a network. When I try to remote desktop from another computer hooked up on the network it works fine. When I try to remote from home it does not work. Both the settings on the other computer at work and the one at home appear to be the same.

If you are remotely access you must connect to your computer not using the hostname "officecomputerA" but you must connect to the IP of your office computer.

You can use https://whatismyipaddress.com/ to find your office IP address.

Then you can attempt to connect. I don't know your situation precisely but you may not have luck with this method. You may need to authenticate to the Office network if the security is run by an administrator that blocks those ports to the outside world - and also accounts for why it works from another computer at the office.

If you are using Remote Desktop Connection(RDP, mstsc.exe) from Windows this may not be good enough at home. You may need a software such as Logmein or GotomyPC.

You can find out more about remote software http://www.myremotepcaccesssoftware.net/
