Hello,
I've got the same problem as stephpage93...my Windows Media Player on my lap top won't play. When I try a box appears saying there's a problem with the sound device, or there may not be a sound device for it. I think there's no sound device.
I have an Acer 2420 Travelmate and I recently upgraded my WMP. Since then it hasn't worked. I think it's a Legacy sound device that came with my WMP. I've been to the Legacy site, and the Acer site but neither help. Any advice? Oh, I'm using Windows XP Professional.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi, can you tell me how I uninstall my sound care in the first place? Do I have to physically take it out of my lap-top? Can you explain the process for me please? Thanks

Hi. No, ur sound card is integrated in ur MB !

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
Search for ur audio card in Audio controllers. Right click, then click Uninstall.

(Maybe there is no audio card, because it did not have been iinstalled.)

To add to my earlier enquiry re-lack of audio on my Acer Travelmate 2420, when I click on Sound and audio devices in Control panel and look in Properties, in Volume it says: No Audio Device, No Playback Devices, No Recording Devices and No Midi Playback Devices. In Voice it says: No Playback Devices and No Recording Devices.

If anyone can help or has information as to how to remedy this, please explain the procedure step by step for me. My computer literacy level is a bit low at the moment.

Tahnks

Hi there,
i was experiencing the same technical difficulties,
what i found helped was when i removed the sound card and saturated it in thick bleach for 48 hours
if you attempt this and the hardware is still having problems working try hitting it very, very hard with a sledge hammer.
let me know how it works out for you.
