Dear Sir,
I am using 4 gb usb flash drive JFV60 of transcend. I have copied few files on it from another computer and used it in another for opening it. Soon the drive is attached it is recognized as E Removable drive and after opening it, asking to format the drive.
I have tried to scan it but could not as no file was recognized.
I opened the properties section it is showing 0 files but the color indicated the drive is full.
Earlier I have given my name to the drive but why my name aslo isnot indicated.
I am having very important material in the drive. Please help me to solve this problem and how to get open the drive.
Regards.

Hi

Try and avoid the formatting option if possible.

In the meantime, try running some file recovery software against it to see if it can find any files on it. The free demo wont cost you anything and will show if there are files that can be recovered from it or not. It's a fast, simple method that can produce quick results for you. You can get more information and advice on how to recover deleted files here.

Good luck

In cases like this where files appear to have disappeared or somehow got deleted from a flashdrive or USB memory stick etc, all is not lost as long as you take sensible procedures and precautions.

You can very often recover lost or deleted files from removeable storage media such as flash drives, camera memory cards or other USB Memory sticks and devices etc.

However, to increase the chances of being able to recover files after they have been deleted you must not save any new files, files or data to it.

When you delete files (or any files) from a memory card or USB memory device the data itself isn’t deleted, just the file system pointers that says where the data for those files is located. The area where the deleted picture data was stored is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it is too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important that new files or files aren’t saved to the memory card in the meantime.

One of the easiest ways to see if your deleted files can be recovered is to try some file recovery software.

One tip is to try a demo version of a commercial product that will scan the memory card for deleted files and show you exactly what files can be recovered.

At least that will show you if you can recover the deleted files or if it’s too late already. You can find more useful information on recovering deleted files from flash drives, USB memory sticks or camera cards etc at http://www.repaircorruptfile.com/Recover-Deleted-Files.html

Hope thats of use to people.
