Bios freezes

Hello,
I am actually encounting a rare problem with my pc I cant connect my new dvd rom through sata port. I have two hard disks connected in sata 1 and sata two and one through ide ports primary master. When I connect my new dvd rom it cannot get past the bios upto windows it will just freeze anyone can help me please?

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

you have two CD and DVD drives? you might have both set to MASTER. Check the jumpers (little plastic blocks) on the back of the drives. One must be set to Master and one to Slave or both must be set to "cable select"
