Hello,
Hello!

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

A friend's considering getting a laptop for her daughter to primarily play Internet games.
Could anyone advise me as to whether the specs below would be ok

• Intel Celeron processor M 540 1.86GHz
• 512MB RAM
• 80GB Hard Drive
• 15.4" widescreen display
• 16:10 format for optimized DVD playback
• Windows Vista Home Basic
• Dual layer DVD rewriter
• VIA Chrome9 HC DirectX 9 graphics
• Built-in wireless networking (802.11b/g)

It depends on which kind of games the daughter will play.

But I would say that's a little configuration because with Vista installed on it, you will risk to have a PC which works very slow. If you buy a PC with Vista you will need at least a processor double core and 2 Go of RAM.
The configuration presented here is must suitable with a Windows XP.

Bye !!

Don't miss the bear !!!!!

I agree with other guy who comment about it, nowadays you need at least a dual core and 2GB of RAM, even if you use it for basic features. Brand depend on budget.

I am an Information Technology Specialist and have built many systems. The PC specs given are as stated before--better suited for Windows XP. How the builder's of this PC could even think about putting Vista on this system is beyond me. Even with XP, you should plan on slowness if the games get too power hungry. Personnally, I do not care for Celeron processors, they are stripped down Pentiums.
