Hi Everyone

Hope you can help me

My son has a pc with a integral basic graphics card (via chrome9) I wanted to install a nvidia ge 8800 gts from a friends pc no longer being used.

I took the graphics card went home to install what I though was an easy job and should be able to do myself!!

I put the graphics card in got a high pitched squeeling sound and my monitor wouldn't work. I tried plugging monitor straight into graphics card with new cable still nothing on monitor. Took graphics card out changed cable back to original and all is fine.

What am I doing wrong

I'm not very techincal either so excuse me if I'm just being thick but can you help please.

Sam

you may need to install the device drivers for the card first.
go onto the nvidea website and get the drivers for it (model should be on the card)

another thing is in the BIOS the display may be set to onboard.
check the settings.
