I think I have.
yesterday night, I unsinstalled Adobe Flash, and re-installed the latest version from their website. After a reboot, no problem.
It may be too ealry to confirm it, but I think it's resolved on my part.

Thanks Nick!
I was struggling with this problem this afternoon, as I have music up on a website using the Yahoo player and it worked fine in Firefox but not IE. Reloaded the Adobe flash player and it fixed it - so I have put the solution on the web page!

Solution:

1. Forget about all browsers and dont waste time.. :)

In outlook express open and and you will see builtin browser, where u can browser as good as any conventional browser.

3. open your youtube files, playlists, or any sound or videos from any website..

4. Enjoy your music.

5. Please post if it works and forward it to everyone who having the same problem

Yes it works but I don't use outlook,it is time consuming to open another program when i am in a different browser and it is not resolving my problem with IE.

Thank you for the Outlook solution. Always more than one way to skin a cat and after two weeks of uninstalling Adobe Flash, etc..., etc..., etc..., your solution does the trick for me. :)

I had the same problem. Tried everything suggested by different postings. Nothing worked. I downloaded Firefox and use it now. The problem is solved. It looks like a glitch in the IE (I tried v. 6 and 7)

Well, you may think its stupid but it can happen to the best of us.
As my movie/music players worked just fine, i didnt think the cables were plugged in wrong. I have 5 speakers,..
This comment solved my problem, reminds me and maybe more people and some solutions may seem stupid, but in fact aren't.

You are very rude to suggest we are wasting people's time because we plugged things in differently. I read at another site while researching this problem that someone had put their speakers in the second connector and then the headphone after that not realizing that Flash uses your MAIN speakers for sound. That is why Youtube won't work but Itunes will. And Internet Explorer won't work.
I had already figured out that my problem was that I was using the wrong speaker connector. I broke my connector for the MAIN speakers on the back of my subwoofer where it plugs in the 2 main ones I have. So after many days of thinking I plugged my speaker connector into the same plug but changed my software to say that it was now plugged into the CENTER as opposed to SIDE, BACK, or MAIN. (my software allows for up to 5 or 7 speakers. So if the first 2 connectors were not being used I figured that I could try setting the software to 4 speakers and it would play the first 2 speakers and get no sound (as none were on that connector, then it would go to the next 2 and yes, it worked. I had sound back) But now I had no sound in Youtube, Internet Explorer or some software. I still had it in Itunes and my TV programs in Media Center. So I had to conclude that some programs only look for sound on the first 2 *main* speakers. Now I can't figure out what to do to get sound from Youtube and IE8.0 with the speakers being plugged in as 4 speakers. It also means you are not getting more than 2 speakers sound when you use these programs. So your 5.1 surround sound is a waste.

So to suggest these posts aren't relevant is totally wrong. I learned from it that the program uses the first 2 speakers which I kind of figured but wasn't sure. As long as a post helps someone, it's relevant. And yes some people do plug things in the wrong place by mistake or because it's dark at the back of their computer and some idiots like me break the end of the connector in the plug too. And can't get it out the way my PC is built inside.

I am wondering if there is a place in the BIOS to change the speaker setting this is my next step to change this. Then either find a solution or buy USB speakers! lol

Have a nice day!!

I had this problem also. Soulution was found at Microsoft. Frequently sound card driver is outdated when Vista Service pack 1 is installed. You need to reinstall the sound card driver. complete instructions can be found at" How to troubleshoot sound problems that you experience after you install windows vista Service Pack 1" at support.microsoft.com. Good luck

OKAY GUYS HERE'S THE FIX ... i know many of you probably found and tried that wave mapper trick and it didn't work .. well so did I ... but I happened back to the page and tried what our friend suggested at the end of his blog... and let me tell you the sound was back immediately
FYI- I did search for the msacm32.drv on my drive but it wasn't to be found so i copied it from another computer and pasted it into my system 32 folder and oh man! instantaneously....I heard that windows sound... clidked over to youtube and bingo bango.. oh yeah baby! FOR YOUR LISTENING ENJOYMENT....THIS WORKS!

Also ensure and verify that the msacm32.drv driver file is existing in C:\Windows\System32 folder. If the file is missing in that location, search for other copy of msacm32.drv in the computer, or copy that file from another system.

Perfect. I created the wavemapper string as directed, which was missing in in the specified registry file, and the sound started immediately.

Hello all, Well i did alot of research, and found out if you have you installed SP1 in Vista atleast that it messes up your sound drivers, and you have to reinstall your drivers, because i was getting only 5 seconds of sound when i went to YouTube or any other flash site, and i was using IE, FF, Opera, and Chrome and all browsers did the same thing so, if this is happening to you and you have Vista reinstall your sound drivers :)

The solution is via a registry key. It is missing (mine after running errorkiller 2.6). A link is provided in this thread, or see my copy-paste in groups.google. The solution works instantly. Thank you for posting it here!

Hi all was usefull but I dont know if it helped. Or if that was my problem i found that the flash player works on your (1) main speaker jack out and i didn't have mine in that one i had it in the second one and my headphones on the third jack port. So if that helps you rock on.

I had this issue today on a PC running Vista. I ran a commandline utility: sfc /scannow and it fix this issue. If you do not have a store purchased PC then you will also need a copy of the Operating System disc.

The utility also works on XP machine. you might be able to use dialafix from http://www.lunarsoft.net/
