SPEAKERS WONT WORK THROUGH TV BUT OK WITH DVD

Hello,
i have just bought Samsung 32'' and cinema sound package. The dvd seems set up properly and plays sound thru all speakers when using CD and DVD but I cant get the TV to play sound thru the speakers and have to resort to TV speakers. I have found how to set to External speakers but its dead. What have I done wrong?
