Sound card and Audio device

Hello,
I have recently wiped my pc clean due to a virus. I have installed the recovery disk but do not have an audio device or sound card. Is this something I can recover from my machine or do I have to spend a chunk of change? I am frusterated pc illiterate and would appreciate any answers or advice. Thanks!

I have the EXACT same problem you had in July and i was REALLY hoping that you found a free way to fix it? If so i would really appriciate it if you could tell me how to fix it.

After re installing Windows, u have to re-install ur sound card

Plz tell ur OS and the brand and the model* of ur computer. Or of ur MoBo if ur computer is a no-brand one.

I have deleted the audio device from my PC y mistake. Please tell me how could i reinstall it?

Try System Restore to the point just before u uninstalled* ur audio device. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/support/sysre­store.mspx

*Delete it is impossible !

Hi there my name is corey.i work with computers everyday,i heard about your problems and i think that i can help you fix it.what you can do is to download realtek ac97 audio drivers and install it,restart your pc,right-click on my computer click manage,then divice manger.there you will see realtek ac97 drivers,right click on the driver and click update

There are 2 specifications for Audio devices : AC'97 and HD (High Definition)
There is a lot of Audio devices makers : Realtek, VIA, Creative labs, IDT(ex Sigmatel), Analog Device, Conexant, ...

The Realtek AC'97 driver is available only for ... Realtek AC'97 Audio devices !

Yes, you have one !
But it's not installed and you need the driver to do it.
Click http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sound-200806041­50941.zip to download this driver.
Then run it.

I had the same problem for almost 2 months and today I accidentally fixed it. If in sound and audio devices volume tab it says no audio device and is grayed out where you can't click place icon on task bar then try this SIMPLE solution.

Go to: control panel
Go to: double click sound and audio devices>>place cursor in volume tab and scroll wheel on mouse and the grayed area changes, no audio device goes away and the name of your sound card appears. If this happens then it is fixed.

Now all you have to do is:
Go to: sound tab and voice tab to see if you need to scroll mouse for grayed area to change and sound card to come on. If you do the click apply and OK.

DON"T click apply and OK in the volume tab until you go to sound tab and voice tab. Click apply and OK in these 2
tabs and then volume.

Hi guys i have the same problem but when i did what was stated above it didnt work! also my device doesnt have the yellow explination mark or the red cross! i tried to search for the recovery manager as well and that didnt work either pls if anyone could help me.

Start/Run. Type cmd + OK

On the black screen type chkdsk+ Entry.
On the 2nd lin u'll see a serial nummer.

Is this nummer u r searching for ?
