Problem opening attachment in Vista

I have a vista operating system and windows 2007,am unable to open word attachements.It brings a message that the user has no permission to access the document but the documents are not protected.I even tried opening an attachment which i had send but it could not open,but it openned in another computer with XP and windows 2003.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
