Altec Lansing Series100 Speakers

Hello,
I lost the power cord for my PC Speakers (Altec Lansing Series100). I bought a Universal AC Adapter but to configure it, I need to know the polarity of the speakers. The booklet for the AC Adapter says the polarity should be written on the speakers (which it is not) or in the instruction manual for the speakers (which I DO NOT STILL HAVE, of course!)
Can anyone help? Does anyone have an instruction manual for the Altec Lansing Series100 Speakers?

Hi, open up back of powered speaker,check color of wireing to power plug. the red wire shpuld be the hot 9v Ac line a 400ma. remember its not dc 9 volts!....then mark polarity on back of speaker out side for your self in "futures".!~!!!

HI, JUST CHECKED MY SERIES FOR YOU.THE "CENTER POLE OF THE INPUT" IS "POSITIVE AC at 9 VOLTS", DON'T CONFUSE WITH 9 VOLTS DC,OK!!..............THIS IS INCASE YOU DONT CARE TO OPEN UNIT UP TO LOOK FOR YOUR SELF.

Can't even hook mine up, with all this colour coding on computers you think would it would be a help, well orange dose not look like pink and blue dose not look like black, nothing to do with the normal red,white and yellow for ps2 or 3, or my HD t.v which has dark green, dark blue , red, white and red so really i am at a lose anyway can't put them into my Hd the cables don't fit, i have no instructions, and even if i did they be in black and white.

I just did the same. I had to find a used power adapter, and it was tricky. It is suppost to be a 6volt 1000ma or 1amp power adapter that is "not DC" it has to be AC. DC (direct current) may fry the speakers. DC has a direct positive and a direct negative. AC has a positive and negative that alternate at around 60hz (60 times a second).

So The Power Adapter You Need is
AC 6 volt 1000ma "AC"
