Hello,
Motherboard: nforce3-a
speakers: Logitech x-540
sound card: Creative SoundBlaster (SB) Audigy SE
OS: Vista x32

5.1 surround sound is not working... Applications and Drivers are fully updated, i have tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers. When i select 5.1 under the types of speakers in my application, it disables my center speaker, and makes my rear speakers really garbling. When i select 2.1, it gives me EVEN crystal clear quality sound from all the speakers. I have also checked all the connections three times.

Configuration: Vista x32
Creative SB Audigy SE

Hello, perhaps you have a problem with the driver compability best thing is to inform yourself about you hardware device.

And also perhaps best configuration will be for your using 2.1.

I'm having the same problem, except it's not the Matrix that is to blame. Speakers: Logitech X-540. Card: Sound Blaster Audigy SE. I used to only be able to get the center, but right now I have the two front speakers. The Creative tools I have don't seem to like the 5.1 setting. Whenever I choose it, it never tests for rear, center, or the sub. My card's driver is up-to-date, and I'm on Windows XP Pro. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

What was suggested to me, and what actually worked, is to uninstall the drivers, and then reinstall them from the CD. Did that and everything works just fine. ^^

Hi,
I just bought the Logitech X530 5.1 surround and I can only get sound out of my front speakers and the bas when I play music or anything else that is on my pc or on the internet(youtube). But when I play a movie (with a disc) all 6 speakers work (and in 5.1 , not in stereo).
Also when I test them in the config screen they do all respond.
I really don(t know what the possible problem could be?!

Can anyone help me?

Thanks !!

Hiya, i had the same problem, its because dvds have their sound set up to 5.1. you need to go to control pannel, sound, speakers, properties, enchancements. Under enhancements there is an option called sound fill where it takes 2.1 or sterio music and splits it or duplicates it into 5.1 or the equiv then it will play out of all your speakers :)

At the moment I have some wierd issues with my Logitech 5.1 speakers (some x-540 I think it is) alone with my Sound Blaster Audigy (maybe SE).

when connecting in 2.1 mode and testing, left front&right play as they should, so does right back, but right front and subwoofer seems to be swapped.

and when connecting in 5.1 it seems to be the same... my subwoofer says Right front...

and actually when connecting in 2.1 the sides seems to be switched... but thats just fixed through swapping the audio connections at the little connector (3port mini-jacks and 2port audio)

oh well, gonna try reinstalling software and see what happens

I had the same problem as many here.

I managed to fix my problem by installing the Realtek HD Audio manager and enabling the speaker fill option and setting the front left and right as well as rear left and right to full range speakers. Then I boosted the gain on the rear speakers cos they were a little quiet and it's all good now.

I have a similiar problem. I had Altec Surround Sound speakers and thought that the speakers were no good so I bought Logitech Z-5500 surround sound speakers. The problem is still the same. I don't get the center speaker, and the left and right play out the front and left together. I have swapped connections around on the sound card, uninstalled and reinstalled, changed settings, nothing seems to work. A computer guy says it may be the sound card which is a Creative Audigy SB, any ideas?

Hi guys,

I admit the logitech X540 5.1 manual is awfully discreet about the matrix functionality.
I had the same problem as many here, until I figured out how that "matrix" mode works:
- if you do not enable the Matrix mode (the switch at the right on the volume control) you will not hear anything in the rear speakers when listening to a 2D source (music, streaming video, or most divx formats)
- on the other hand if you enable the Matrix mode and listen to a 5.1 dvd movie you will just not hear some sound.. or very low. Like you will barely hear the voices for instance.

Conclusion:
Enable matrix most of the time, unless you know the source is 5.1 (dvd or mkv movies, and in games I guess...)
The matrix mode is here to mix any left-right stereo sound into a kind of surround sound.

Too bad the driver does not detect automatically if the source is 2 or 5.1...anyway.

What is even worse is the impossibility to rebalance the sound volumes in Matrix mode.
Voyd, I use Realtek HD Audio manager as well but I do not see any where the option to enable a "speaker fill option" nor the possibility to set speakers to "full range"..(what does that mean anyway?). This tool sucks!

I'd like to boost the rear speakers as well, the front-rear balance is really bad, it actually does not "surround" anything because the volume of the rear is barely hearable.

Any advice on that?

Make sure your source is 5.1 surround sound (YouTube Halo recordings are not). You can download a true test from http://kadaitcha.cx/3dsurround.html. It worked for me. My Logitech X-540 system was mute until I moved the green connector from the white (wide) output on the sound card into the green output below it (a flashlight helped figure out that counter-intuitive error). Then the Realtec test worked properly but I couldn't hear any sound surround from my audio or video recordings. Only after I downloaded true 5.1 did I appreciate that it was working. As someone said, the Matrix button needs to be off to hear all tracks on a 5.1 source.

Please man i have almost the same problem. i mean i just bought a Logitech x530 and my front 2 speakers and the center one are not working. i have problems with Realtek Driver cuz when i want to change from 2.1 channels to 5.1 channels it tells me that when Dolby Digital Live is on i cannot hear nothing from my speakers. And it tells me that i need s/pdif cable. That only s/pdif will work. When i bought the Logitech x530 i couldnt find any s/pdif cable in the box.

can u tell me what driver are u using for yout realtek audio card ? or what settings u made?
thanx in advance!! any help will be appreciated, cuz i am really dissapointed that i couldnt find any answer till now on the internet...

Dear Prashanth,
There are a wide variety of speakers available in the market which claims to give best sound quality and features. Among the two which u have asked I can suggest Logitech, but I would personally suggest u " Edifier".
Where you stay try to find the dealer which keeps it. or else see the web. Edifier is the only company which provides the sound engineering used in Bose. And it is reasonably priced too. A 5.1 with magnetically sheilded speakers of high range costs from Rs 3000-6500. The model which is of Rs.6500 gives a sound like live performance. It is awesome. Nobody can beat Edifiier. I have one set and am very satisfied with it. In case u need any further help do tell me. My email id is: rudrasin@hotmail.com

Find edifier in: http://www.edifier-international.com/
