Hello,
i did as advised. although my bios had no setting for on board on/off. i did update my bios to the newest version.
reset to factory defaults, and re-installed driver. no go. i have heard realtek hd audio is tricky. i fear maybe i suffer from hardware failure, perhaps onboard audio chip. ???????????

Configuration: Windows XP
Safari 530.5

If you can't see any onboard device options in the bios and tried all these solutions with no success,

I advise you to get it repaired! Please contact your provider, if you still have warranty it will be better

Sorry for you mate
