Problem with dell laptop

Hello,
my dell laptop is going crazy when i turn it on the dell logo does not appear instead a white screen slowly comes up with yellow, blue, and brown lines running up and down. Any clues to what might be wrong and how to fix it?

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.11

this may be a graphics problem or there may be a problem with the screen.

get it repaired by a qualified technician.
