My friend gave me this linksys wireless adapter and the installation cd. When I try to install it, the installer pops up for a split-second and closes. Yet, the same kind (not the same one) of modem works on his computer. I have a Windows xp computer and he has a Windows 2000. Could it be that i need to have Windows 2000 for it to work, or what? It was designed for Windows 2000 and above.

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.10

Hi,

try to download the driver for the router on the official website of the linksys and then install.

or check if you can get help from linksys support.

check out this link:

The Linksys WUSB600 N wireless adapter states on the box and in other places (Cisco statements) that it is compatible with Windows 2000. However, it clearly is not, so do not waste your time and money to use these later Linksys N adapters with Windows 2000. After hassling with it, we called Linksys technical help and they tell you the above. When asked why they represent that Windows 2000 is compatible when in fact it is not, they can only say they need to disclose better information !
