Registry problem

Hello,
Ran a Macafee Virus scan and then I rebooted as the program indicated... Since then I cannot get to my windows desktop... It will allow me to get to the users screen in windows then when I select a user it says it is loading preferences.. then in a about a minute it logs me off the user and back to the users screen main menu. I can't boot from the windows cd, I can't boot in Safe Mode. Anyone know how to fix this problem... I believe it is in the registry somewhere... also the HW is all working correctly... ran all HW diagnostics and the HD and CD drives are fine...

Hi,
when starting your computer press the F8 button to get in the boot menu.
then select the "last known good configuration" option.
if you are able to enter the computer, then do a system restore.
