Hard disk not detected

Hello,
i am Abey, I install the vista in my laptop, two days later format the hard disk and try to install Windows xp, then system showing hard disk is not detected. I try that hard disk in desk top, that is working. I dont know wht is the problom..pls help me

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.10

Hye you will have to enter the BIOS to check if your hard disk is detected! Don't forget to check the sata operation! change it to IDE!
