Hello,

I explain. I am in an office, the network admin has restricted access to certain categories of websites. Access to the company's network is via Ethernet cable, hooked to the company's laptop.

While at the office I need to keep an eye on my private activities, especially Forex. I have my private laptop with me but juggling from one computer to another, it's not easy.

So here's what I want to do: use a browser on the wired network, and another on Wifi.

Is it possible ? If not, what solution can I adopt to direct a specific part of the traffic to the LAN, and another part to WIFI?

I am using Windows 10.

Thank you

Hi

That's impossible, the wifi will also connect to the same server with the same restricted sites. You would also need to create a secured access with a password which your network admin would no doubt be happy to quickly provide to you.

Ask your the network admin, ask him how you can keep an eye on your private activities while in the office.

Good luck

Oops! Sorry, I forgot to specify that the Wifi is actually my phone's hotspot. Thank you for your feedback!

What you are asking is nearly impossible for the AVERAGE USER, so lets just say it doens't work like that. Unless you are prepared to build static routing in your LAN, then you cannot do what you are asking. Plain and simple. You are basically LOOPING your networks!

Thanks ac3mark.

I have some basic knowledge in networking (comptia N+ certified back in 2011), I could have been guided to build static routing. But since I will never be granted access to local switches and routers, I think I can forget about my project..

Will keep switching networks manually thn...

You can try to convince your admin to place another subnet on your machine, with an additional network client pointed to the Subnet.

I talked to him before I come to this forum. I tried to convince him to allow my profile to access a few more websites. But it seems it's against company policy. He cannot configure my network access differently

I guess that he prefers you to concentrate on your work for which you are paid for rather than spend time monitoring your private activities.

Nope! If it was that, then I would not have access to Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc. And I would not have admin privilege on my workstation. I don't have those kind of restrictions thanks to my position.

The thing is, the website I am trying to access is flagged "unknown category" by Forcepoint. The network admin argues he can not open access because of security backgrounds. (sorry for my poor english)
