SOUND AND PICTURE FROM HDMI CABLE

Hello,
I have a Bose Lifestyle system that I bought the VS2 video enhancer for. I did this so that I could hook my HD DVR and Blu-ray disc player to my TV using one HDMI cable. I hooked all up to my Bose system using an HDMI cable. I got a picture but didnt get sound. In order to get sound I had to hook an optical cable from my HD DVR to my Bose system, since I have only one optical input to my Bose system I cant get sound from my Blu Ray disc player. I thought when you use HDMI you only need to hook that one cable up????
