7-Zip is an open source and poweful file archiver application which source code is under the GNU LGPL license. It will compress your files at high compression ratio in 7z format (LZMA compression). 7-Zip supports many formats such as ZIP, TAR, GZIP, CHM, ARJ, CAB, CPIO, DEB, HFS, ISO, MSI, UDF, WIM, XAR, Z etc. and has self-extracting capability for 7z format compressed files.
