VNC (Virtual Network Computing) is an application customer / waiter allowing to achieve a distant machine graphically across networks, whatever the operating system.

Advantages:

Possible to achieve a machine of any computer, as soon as it is linked to Internet.
Given its character multi-platforms, it is notably possible to use it to be connected to heterogeneous systems.
TightVNC is an improvement of VNC, offering optimizations and new functions, notably a better management of the compression of fluxes.
Can notably be used to take the remote hand on a computer for aims of administration system, for remote study or else to perform a customer support.
Easy to use and installation is quick
Free as it's an open source software

Disadvantages:

Not compatible with Windows Vista
