Samsung Launches Galaxy S4 Battery Trade-In Program
Samsung is offering replacements for faulty batteries found in a number of Galaxy S4 smartphones, after claims spread across the web that a large percentage of returned phones were due to battery issues.
"We are aware of this issue, which has affected a limited number of customers", stated Samsung after it became clear that many users were experiencing issues such as rapid battery drain, swelling batteries, and other battery-related issues with their Galaxy S4s. "We ask all affected customers to please visit their nearest Samsung Electronics service centre, where they can receive a replacement battery free of charge." While this response is not as timely as many users would have liked (some have been reporting these battery issues since as early as April), the free battery trade-in program will at least set things straight for frustrated Galaxy S4 users, and work to help the company save face in this slip-up.
While the Galaxy S4 is being taken care of, much larger prospects may be in store after the new year. Samsung is already very likely looking to a not-so-distant future in which users are spreading rumors of the Galaxy S5 to be announced as early as January 2014. If this is true, then Samsung will likely place much of its energy on its new product, however it is comforting to see that users of the S4 are not being left by the wayside. "We remain committed to providing the best possible user experience for our customers", Samsung said in closing, ending out its statement on a positive beat.
