LinkedIn Releases Infographics-Related Updates
Today, LinkedIn released two infographics-related updates for SlideShare.
These two features are: a new infographics player and an upgrade for SlideShare Pro, its paid version, so those who, post infographics can track how they are received. This is yet another step LinkedIn is taking to try to expand beyond a job search site. While some users have a love-hate relationship with infographics, they are becoming more and more popular. The company plans to seize that popularity and hopes that by emphasizing infographics, users will spend more time on its platform. The new infographics player will allow uploaded PDFs on SlideShare to be detected as PDFs and automatically included in SlideShare's infographics directory.
The new update to the paid version of SlideShare will have advanced analytics features so users can get a better understanding of who accesses the data and how it is used. One way this is possible is by viewing trends. With this update, trends will be shown by country and by referrers; this should also help to eliminates bot traffic from skewing data. This data should be available within 24 hours of publishing your infographics. You can even make graphs of this data, an infographic description of the usage of your infographics. Despite the updates to SlideShare, LinkedIn still does not offer the capacity to generate your own infographics thought other companies are diving into this venture. Although it does not have that feature currently, it is not improbable that LinkedIn may have it soon.
