The hit singer becomes the new Global Creative Director for Blackberry.
Alicia Keys, 14-time Grammy winner, has been hired on to the BlackBerry team as their Global Creative Director. According to a BlackBerry Press Release, the company is looking to Keys to improve engagement with BlackBerry as well as boost visibility and perception. "We are excited," states BlackBerry CEO and President Thorsten Heins, "she will be bringing to us her enormous capabilities, as well as a vast network of relationships in the entertainment, social media and business communities."
Currently to work on the BlackBerry 10, Keys will be collaborating with content and app developers for the device as well as retailers and marketing specialists. A valuable promotional partner, the singer notes that staying connected is extremely important and valuable in her life and profession. The BlackBerry 10 model has already made moves towards being an entertainment-focused device, and Keys believes that it can help professional entertainers in their everyday lives. She states that the smartphone has potential "to help creative people be more productive, and help productive people be more creative." One primary focus is on BlackBerry's new "Keep Moving" project. This venture is to be tackled by film director Robert Rodriguez, author Neil Gaiman, and Creative Director Alicia Keys, and is marketed towards the creative industry. A major jump in marketing capacity, these additions to their team should make 2013 a good year for BlackBerry.
