Nexus 4 Experiences Further Delays
Once again, Google's unlocked Nexus 4 sees repeated delays in shipping.
Google's popular unlocked smartphone, the 8GB Nexus 4, was out-of-stock all throughout January. Now back in-stock, Google's shipping estimates for the device has been bumped up to nearly a month. This is yet another chapter in a saga of shipping issues with this device. In November, the phone actually was listed at times to be shipped in two months. The 16GB version of the unlocked Nexus 4 is still shipping at its normal 1-2 week period, which many are opting for instead since the price increase is only to $349 (rather than the 8GB at $299).
Users who are not interested in the unlocked version can easily get the device at normal shipping speeds (and at a much lower price. The Nexus 4 through Best Buy is approximately $150. However, this does not decrease the popularity of the unlocked version. The device is in very high demand partly because of its position as a competitor against iPhone, both with regards to its operating system and its price. But as to why Google and LG have been unable to keep up with the demand, users are baffled but only hope the problem gets resolved quickly.
