I’d like to write an app for converting *.swf to *.avi
Is there any Flash Player ActiveX to do this?

Why not try this SWF to AVI Converter?
It is the one that can perfectly convert swf to avi. Two converting mode: simgle conversion mode and batch conversion mode supported allow you to convert simple swf or multiple swf files to avi at your will. Snapshot function allows you to take snapshot as your first frame.
