Linux tools to format SATA II HD

Hello,

I heard that there are some Linux tools capable to "see" and format harddisk partitions on SATA II HD that had been preformatted by Vista and having Vista on it. This is to put XP easily on such a HD... Can anybody tell me the name of such a Linux tools ?

why can't you repartition/formating using the XP CD? google up "Ultimate boot CD"
