IE for MAC is discontinued since version 5.
Internet Explorer 8 exists only for PCs.

You can download Crossover to install the windows program (internet explorer 8) on your mac, however I've been struggling with it for quite some time now. My mac has had issues with Crossover, though, not the internet explorer program itself, so you may have better luck than I did. You can also try using Wine, another mac program that can install windows programs.

IE for macs may have been discontinued after v5, but there are always ways around these things.

If you're absolutely desperate, you can also try using bootcamp to partition your hard drive and install windows and then install internet explorer, but then you need to spend the money on a windows program.

You can use VMWare to install a mounted image of a windows program, but I haven't tested if that will then work to install internet explorer.. I imagine it would.
