CD or DVD will not play on VISTA 64 bit OS

Hello,

After installing a MP3 music converter for sansa player and MP3 Rocket application, my computer no longer plays cd and dvd. I uninstalled both the mp3 music converter and the mp3 rocket application. I, also, restored my computer to a past date. Can someone offer a solution to this issue please. Thanks!

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0 - business computer
Vista internet explorer 6.0 - home computer the computer with the issue.
