Hi,

My HP was bought in 2007 and starting from this year, burning CDs/DVDs doesn't work anymore.
I tried using Nero, Roxio, and window vista to burn CDs. Now, it doesn't read or detect some cds and dvds too.
I have checked the driver software update and the device from it's properties and it said all are working properly.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

I seem to be facing exactly the same problem with my Compaq- bought it in 2007, used to have no trouble burning cds and dvds, but now it has trouble burning, AND can't read cdrs, nor DVDs. It can however, detect a DVD-rw when I inserted a blank dvdrw. Can some please enlighten me on what is wrong with my drive? I thought maybe the drive was spoilt but if it can read a DVD-RW, why can't it read a normal commercial DVD?
