Cannot download large files or stream

Hello,
Linksys WRT 54g2

Cannot download large files or stream music. When I bypass the linksys router and connect direct to the modem everything is fine. Back through the router speed and download ability are limited. Several computers on my system all running win xp pro with up to date software. All have the same issue.

Please advise?
