Hi Guys, Didn't know where to put this but i think it may be caused by a virus (on my Acer Aspire 5315): When i start Vista up, i wait about 20 minutes at the Welcome screen with no succession, nothing happens so i just hold the power down then restart in safe mode. Here : My Norton, S&D Spybot, and AVG don't work saying that it has been changed or removed and 'Do i want to delete the Shortcut'. Also, no Networks are showing so when Norton does give me a message saying 'The Virus definitions required are invalid' I can not click the link and possibly update it from there. (I remember though, that when i managed to get on to Norton on Normal start up, the Internet & E-mail section were 'At risk' as well as the option on the lower left (cant remember )). After starting it up on normal a few more times i saw IE's 'logging off sound playing' as i tried shutting down (which never works by the way, i must hold down the power button )so i read through some forums and applied a shorter sound under 10 secs thinking this was the problem.... it wasn't. Also, i have read that Starting task manager and opening IE.exe can make your desktop appear, well since mines already showing i thought i would use it to make my programs load and make everything work - (When i click anything it 'loads' it for a few secs and stops, as well as when i go to the sidebar - which loaded half of the times i ran Normal mode - it goes black and shows the loading cursor and a second click makes it grey.) I have tried restoring it (to a previous date at which the keypoint was a Windows Update) But that did nothing. Nothing has been downloaded recently.... I did have a Downloader Trojan which showed itself last about 6 weeks ago. Could it be the root? Any help at all is much appreciated -Jason

Configuration: 2GHz 80G HD Vista IExplorer
