Hello,
friends, i have broadband connection of bsnl and they have provided adsl modem with an antennae that supports wireless connection. in this modem there are 9 lights namely power, dsl, internet, lan1,lan2, lan3,lan4, wlan and status. there are slots behind namely lan1,lan2,lan3,lan4,line and one slot for plugging the power cable of modem i mean the adaptor. internet connection works fine when i connect the white cable to any one of lan slot and it is indicated by the blinking of the bulb of particular lan that is if i connect to lan1 slot , lan1 bulb blinks continuously and also the status bulb. but wlan bulb does not blink and it merely glows and i cannot work when i disconnect the chord from particular slot.
but sometimes wlan feature is working. so please let me know to rectify the problem. my laptop has windows vistas operating system. i adjusted the position of antennae but it never works. sometimes wlan feature of modem works, sometimes it is not working. but wired internet is working fine.

what may be the problem, is it modem or my laptop?
eagerly waiting for your replies, friends,
thanks in advance

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi Aparna,
Try this
ype 192.168.1.1 in your browser (internet explorer or any browser)
when asked for Username and password type "admin" both without quotes
then in the left panel goto wireless there click enable wireless then your WLAN light will start glowing

Friend the solution u posted for adsl BSNL modem is not complete , even iam facing the same problem actually wireless is already selected in router setting, but iam trapped when modem some time shows SSID and some time dont show on laptop but when i restart the modem it shows the SSID so every day i have to restart the modem , my question is ,is there any modem time out for wireless by which it automatically disable the SSID visibality after some time and to make it visible again we need to restart the modem

I think u dint read the question properly .. even iam facing the same problem huwai modem WLAN light merely glows but it is not detected by laptop ... . when restarting the WLAN is dectected .. but next day .. again WLAN is not detected .. do we have to change some settings .. the option of wireless is already selected in modem .. problem is random behaviour od wireless is it modem problem or we there is some time out setting in modem settings.
