Ok Windows updates wants me to download Windows XP Service Pack 3.Is this a good thing?

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

It depends on who you ask. I've installed it on 4 systems so far & only had a minor glitch with the wireless on one of them, but it was an easy fix. I'm going for #5 tonite.

Hi Buddy....

I am having a problem with my wifi after installing service pack 3, how did you fix it???? It keeps switching itself on and off and keeps going round in circles without connecting????? GRRRRRRRR!!!!! Please help.......

i installed it on one of my computers and now i can't get to the internet.
it tells me i'm connected but i can't get internet explorer open. can anyone help......

If you have already tested many things, maybe it's cause of an update by Microsoft see that. Otherwise, create your own thread. "Vous�avez�beaucoup�d'avenir�derri�re�vous..."

Same here, I've installes SP3 3 times and restored my computer each time cz firefox/safari/IE won't connect to the internet while windows says it's connected, must be something to do with new security features cz my computer also hangs up whenever I try to open windows firewall or try to stop windows firewall service.

My system was running fine on Windows XP Service Pack 2. After Service Pack 3 was installed, the p.c. blue screened with a stop error. I cannot run it in Windows Safe Mode, it ONLY runs in Windows Safe Mode with Networking. After running a few diagnostic utilities, I believe the problem is that it stepped on my drivers as this is the directory referenced in the error message when attempting to run in Windows Safe Mode. I am 90% sure it is my video driver as I have a high end card for gaming.

If anyone has had this problem, I would appreciate a response as it appears to be unusual that the p.c. runs in Windows Safe Mode with Networking but not in regular Windows Safe Mode. Thanks.
