Hello,

I would be very grateful if someone could offer advice on my problem. I am not that hot with computers but now when I switch on my PC windows begins to load then it displays a blue screen which gives the following error message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If thisscreen appearsagain, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x86577830, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

I keep getting this every time I switch it on and I do not know what I need to do? The problem is all my baby photos are saved on my computer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

if safe mode wont boot windows is corrupted beyond repair...you'll need to reinstall

I was hoping that would not be the case. I purchased my Computer from Dell on line and it never came with any disks!

I will try and borrow some? Will I still be able to access what I saved on my hard drive like my photos etc?

Thanks for your help

a reinstall will lose all data stored...a repair install may work but usually leaves legacy issues .

suggest F8 to enter SAFE MODE on bootup and follow that information it gave you.
