Hello,
Recently I had a person at school hack the network laptops and found my IP address. Unfourtunatly he direct-connected to my computer and had a little fun with my system. So far nothing's too corrupt as far a Windows files and whatnot but I still would like to change the IP if possible. If anyone could help me that would be great. Thank You!

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.14

Many ISP’s are really serious about prevent IP changes. If the instructions here don't work for you, you might be limited to either changing your ISP or using a proxy server service like http://www.iprivacytools.com .. But first try this: for some ISP’s, just powerfing off your modem off for a few hours and then back on will get you a new IP. If that doesn't work, unplug any router you're using, plug your computer directly into the modem, and restart your modem+computer. Then go to START menu, type “cmd” and hit enter. At prompt type “ipconfig /release” and then hit enter. Right-click on the symbol for “local area connection” and click “properties”. Doubleclick “tcp/ip”, check “Use the following IP address” and enter 111.111.111.111 for the ip and 255.0.0.0 for the subnet mask. Click “OK” out of there. Wait a minute, go back into that dialog box and tick “obtain an IP address automatically”.Go to your START menu, type “cmd” and Enter, then type “ipconfig /release”. Surf to an IP address checking site to see if your IP has changed.

You can use proxy websites: http://www.proxy.org or software application that will hide your ip address http://www.privacy-pro.com. Tor Project is also an application very good http://www.torproject.org

Its very simple to change your IP adress. First, open up your notepad. On the first line put "ipconfig". On the second like put "ipconfig/release" and on the third line put "ipconfig/renew". Then save it as "ip_renewer.bat". Once you've done all of this simply open "ip_renewer.bat" and it will renew your IP adress.
