Reply to adi | 10 ishaan, on Jun 14, 2009 10:52:43 am BSTHere the setup which u need to do...to use net on desktop & wifi as well
actually bsnl employes create a desktop dialer, but ur router/modem can connect on its own. so u can connect ur devices without the need of conncting from desktop always. juz turn on router & thats it.
ok follow the steps mentioned:-
go to the modem webpage by typing address 192.168.1.1,when the username and password window pops up enter admin for both (username and password),next click on advanced setup on the left and select the WAN option, click on edit of first WAN settings listed (usually VPI 0/ VCI 35)
in next page click next the page that comes after will have various list,in that select 2nd option which is PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) and again click next,
in this page enter the details like username & password and in the PPPoE Service Name enter dataone,Authentication Method keep it auto,at the bottom of the select this option : Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports (Default Enabled) !
Now click next and next untill you come to the last page where it says WAN setup summery ! click save and in the next page click on save/reboot !!
Thats it you are done ! Now you have always on connection and you do need to click on the desktop dialer ! If you want you can delete the desktop dialer shortcut and also the default dialer for BSNL from the system !
after doing this DHCP server will be assigned on ur router & you can connect ur wifi devices with default settings.
Note:- as iam not regular user of this forum so if u still wana contact me than mail me at ishaansood@gmail.com or better be if u use orkut than contact me there by putting my above email in search option.
