Add more users to a XP pro network

Hello,




I have 10 computers linked into a XP pro based server, all using a database programme loaded into a virtual drive on the server. I have tried to add more computers to the network but it all crashes. How can I add more computers to see the server and carry out the same tasks without having to change from windows XP pro? Its a very basic network and its only to allow all users to run and use the same programme from each station. Any ideas would be appreciated.

First find out what this crash thing is. Are the collisions too much for a hub or is the bandwidth exceeded at nic or switch?

Add in more or better nic's, enterprise level nic's offload a great deal of cpu power to the nic. Then also have very special features just for these high data use conditions. See intel for the pro1000 teaming features. Use redundant channels for data flow.

See performance monitor for the server. A virtual disk and all other uses create load. Can you reduce load and services that aren't needed?

Windows XP Pro allows a maximum of 10 connections. Are you connecting to a "server" in the true sense, or are you connecting to a WinXP machine that you are storing the data on (a peer to peer network).
