Xp Recovery Console Question PLEASE HELP

I have a quick question, When using the recovery console, And Doing A Repair install, Is there an option So that i can repair windows, Without losing all my music files movie files, etc?
or is it like formatting a hard drive and losing everything?

i think some windows files are corrupted, and need to be replaced, but cant do it, if im going to lose all my important stuff. ??

This is a link to instructions for a Windows "repair/install". If done right it will replace your Windows files and leave your data and installed programs intact. The downside is you will need to install ALL the Windows updates again. Good Luck
