Firefox - websites not loading

dipali24, on Friday 30 May 2008 à 18:29:35
Hello,

I have recently managed to get my laptop infected with spyware, trojans etc. My internet browsers(both IE & Firefox) not only open random popups and sites, but also fail to load certain websites, like facebook, google search(only the front page loads) & isohunt.

The last thing i remember doing is deleting cookies during the sites were being loaded.

Another issue is that these sites work perfectly fine in safe mode, but fail in normal mode.

I have tried loading various spyware and anit-virus but nothing seems to get this spyware out. Also tried deleting all cookies, reinstalling firefox etc.

Pleeeeeeeeeeease help!!!!
Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 2.0.0.14

the same thing is happening with my laptop, i've used anti virus like avg, and it scans infected files in the cookies, and i deleted them, and for a little while the browsers start working, but then the same problem returns, and my cookies are infected once again. Also recently i have been noticing that torrent downloaders like bit lord, and u torrent can't connect to the internet anymore, although i am connected. I just installed McAfee and im running a scan rite now, if that fixes the problem, i'll post again. Until then any advice would be welcome

After you turned off the Restore did you run your scan in normal mode or safe mode? Also do you remember what infections the scan found? Thanks!

The new google chrome browser searches as well as flock browser. I think the infection is for firefox and ie only.

hey dude , i was also having the same problem bt now i hve resolved tht..u can do two things:

1)just close the explorer.exe from the task manager and then run the web browser.i m sure now u can open all ur website nd after some time u can again start the explorer.exe.

2)if this doesnt work then u can use proxy sites too for opening these websites
like kpoxy.com

for me the first one works..so i hope my reply will help u in some ways

Hey Everyone. Have this same problem. Closing explorer.exe works. But I would really wish there was a permanent way. Because closing explorer.exe everytime just to go to a website I visit often, Is a tad annoying.

hi everybody i hve got the permanent solution for this problem .so lets start this:

firstly u hve to download a tool name SDFIX frm the link below---

http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

and follow these steps:
1. Copy SDFix folder to System’s Root Drive(the drive in which ur window is installed)
2. Restart Windows and press F8. Select Safe Mode and press Enter.
3. Logon in the same account tht u r using now.
4. Confirm that Windows is running on safe mode by clicking the Yes button.
5. go to ur system drive(must be c: drive) and open the SDFIX folder
6. Double-click on RunThis to start SDFix batchfile.
7. On the SDFix startup screen, type Y to proceed.
8. SDFix will start scanning processes, services and files for possible infection.
9. Wait until SDFix finished scanning the whole system
10. After scanning, SDFix will prompt for restart. Press any key to proceed.
11. After restart, logon in ur account to finish the system cleanup. SDFix will show confirmation that the process is already finished. Press any key to proceed.
12. System will display text report about what SDFix found during the process.
13. Logoff and logon to assigned account.

i hope this works for u guyz .......

yeah prateek's advice went on right.....
there are two DLL's in the comp which disturb the system stability, even I had them;

For knowing what is disturbing ur system check here;
http://i38.tinypic.com/5xo5kz.jpg

these files do not have a fixed name instead they can be any unsequenced line of words like 'adafrwqrwqf' or 'xefafawff' so no need to check that, download spybot and clean ur system, I am 100% sure itll work fine...

The reason for the problem is that iexplore.exe file is virus. so most virus cleaners cannot detect. once you remove from the task manager, you can browse fine.
IEXPLORE.EXE is the only process that is internet explorer, its located in C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE all others are likely to be trojans spyware, or viruses, recommend checking that u r using the correct one
search for iexplore.exe and delete all of them. then open IE, windows will ask for installation cd and it will install the correct file. i am not sure if this virus is having some other files elsewhere.
all it does is resides in memory, and blocks firefox and IE

I didn't try the 13 step thing, but spybot-search and destroy did the job for me. I think it's a very underrated program. You can get it on www.download.com
it works well.

good luck

The search engines in both firefox and IE don't work anymore and I have tried all of the trojan removers and adaeare and spybot search and destroy and several others. There doesn't yet seem to be an answer to this. I guess others will get it too and eventually someone will send a cure for it.

Troop get flock browser and it is just like firefox with improvements. Google's chrome also is immune to the search problem that effects IE, Firefox and Oprah . I made folk my default browser until a fix comes up for vista. If you are running xp you can do the SDfix thing from riva above.
