I've got a Trigem Imperial 1.10 mobo with an Intel 82845GL Rev B1/ Intel 82801DB ICH4 chipset and PhoenixBIOS 4.0 release 6.0. I can't find the manual for the mobo on the net to find out what cpu it will support as I would like to upgrade to a P4. I can't get an update to the bios as I get an error occurs 2/3 into the download from one of those driver sites. I've been told that an updated BIOS would help support one of the faster P4 cpu., I'm not sure. I would like to get one as fast as possible but I don't know what is possible; I think my chipset (Intel i82845GL Rev B1/ Intel 82801DB ICH4) will go up to 533 FSB - could it be made to go faster? At the moment I've got a Celeron 2.3 GHZ cpu. Do you think my cooler would be ok for a P4. The socket is 478.
