Taskbar disappearing, blank desktop

This is my first time posting a message.
ok, this is actually the first this has eve happened to me it was working fine then suddenly, my taskbar disappeared while my browser was still there. when i minimized my browser to see what was going on, i found that all my desktop items had disappeared, all i had was my wallpaper.
Is this a virus/spyware problem?
please tell me how 2 fix asap!!

jobobbeton, on Saturday July 12, 2008 03:38:03 PM Hey, I had the same problem, and I found this tip on a yahoo forum. It works like a charm:
Hit CTrl+Alt+Delete Choose Task Manager Choose the Application Tab at the top. Click the "New Task..." button. Type explorer.exe and hit enter. Wait a couple of seconds. Source(s): Explorer can hiccup at any moment usually after the computer hangs or for no reason. (It is Windows, after all.) It will and does just disappear for reasons less than a virus. Try this and see what happens. Visibly you'll notice the restart relaunches your taskbar (and other things).

First, Download "combofix" http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix And VundoFix: http://vundofix.atribune.org/ Run VundoFix, Serach for Vundo Infected files, if there are some,remove them with VundoFix. =] Then Run Combofix, it should clean everything nasty on your computer. | cpuNovice, on Monday July 14, 2008 08:50:59 PM I tried booting into safe mode. The screen stays black but i can see the safe mode in the corners of the screen. the mouse also responds to my movements. I have also tried spybot and adaware. I dunno how to fix that. Please help me out.
When i boot normally, My taskbar dissappears as well as my desktop icons. I also lose all sound. However, task manager works. I can load any program from task manager. Please help
