Setup Wizard Changes my static IP !

How do I 'force' an IP?
I have a CPU with a Cisco 350 wireless PCI card and receive my internet access with it. The card has a static IP I got from my ISP (I live rural and have no cable or DSL access, only wireless) - works very well.
My regular ethernet port on the CUP is connected to my home network (a switch) and I want to give it the IP 192.168.1.122.
But every time after I do that and run the network setup wizard the IP has changed to 192.168.0.1
If I change the IP back to 192.168.1.122 I can see the other computers and access their shared files, but they can not get the files from this computer and can't get on the net.
How do I force the setup wizard to keep the IP I set?

When running the setup wizard I select: This computer connects directly to the internet. The other computers on my network connect to the internet through this computer.
Then I select the Cisco wireless as internet connection and the built-in ethernet port as the one for the home network.

I never use the wizards. You sound like you know enough just to go to the control panel and change the settings. Leave the gateway setting out of the lan IP's. Set all the other lan computers to a similar private IP range and subnet. If you want to use ICS then you are forced into what MS says. If you don't want that then get analogx's free proxy instead. |
