# Mail.com Mail Settings

The Mail.com email service allows you to use POP3 and SMTP servers for accessing your Mail.com mailbox.

Mail.com Mail Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop1.mail.com (port 110)

Outgoing Mail Server - use your local ISP SMTP mail server

Hi. I know for a fact that mail.com only offers pop3 mail (outlook express, windows mail ect.) to peple who have a paid upgrade or subscription. Try inbox.com. They offer pop3 access with their free account.

Mail.com are all assholes. They provide you external outlook express, windows mail, only if you pay for the subscription. Forget them......

This is what sent to them:

This is what I got back:

any computer.

DON'T OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM......THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE SLOW AND THEIR SERVERS ARE GETTING BLOCKED ALL THE TIME.

Yeah, you do need to pay for that and a few other features. that sucks, i know... but still: i've been a mail.com member for about like 5 years now, and i've never had any problems - and i'm not a premium user, never paid anything at all.
anyway, they do provide you with an application that checks for new mail and notifies you when you have any new mail. it's called Mail Alert, or something like that.

soo my personal opinion/response at Chitina's message "DON'T OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM......THEY ARE NOT WORTH IT ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY ARE SLOW AND THEIR SERVERS ARE GETTING BLOCKED ALL THE TIME." --- they are worth it, although u dont have access to pop3 for free (apart from the mail alert app), they still have a good service. of course, for someone who's really used to use outlook and other email clients, this ain't the best choice... but doesn't mean they don't have a good service.

they improved the servers a few months back, and made the homepage alot better, that may be why you were experiencing slower speeds and "page unavailable" sometimes back then. the servers are back to normal now, though.

Yes I definitely agree with the above user that mail.com are a good service - especially with the types of name selections you can get without paying - its really cool - ok so you have to pay for the extra bits if you really need them - but mail.com have to make money from some way or other to fund the free emails.

Ive been with them for around 10 years - never had a problem with them.

Hey guys, just FYI, after recently upgrading to an aol.com server, you can get free IMAP access to mail.com (i've got it working right now), using aol.com IMAP settings:

http://help.aol.co.uk/...

Use
yourfullemail@email.com (or mail.com) as your username, and
# Incoming mail (IMAP) server address: imap.aol.com
# Outgoing mail (SMTP) server address: smtp.aol.com; port: 587

Good luck!
Si

Huge Thank You to Si!

I've had a mail.com free account for about 10 years, and until I got an iPhone I never cared that there was no POP3 support on the free accounts. Since then I've been considering upgrading, but I really didn't want to pay a service fee just to use my personal email address. This server works (even though I don't use the aol service).

It works perfectly, and I just wanted to take the time to say thanks!
