Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
Hai
I think the most simplistic solution would be to reinstall the program. What are the specs on your system?

hi kailashpon,
you have surely enjoy the game dear,,,dont worry, just remove it then simply re-install the game but if it persist just scan your pc and it will definitely work believe me dear,,;-)

i know exactly what you mean. my game does the same thing. Except after ive installed it and turn the computer off and go back to play the game..it wont load AT ALL! the launcher comes up but thats it!!! the disk icon turns and hour glass but nothing happnes!! I uninstall and reinstall then it works! BUT with custom downloads u need to load the stupid thing up 3 times..one to get the folders there...two to enable custom content and three to play the game!!
I tell ya it happened to me with Bon voyage, then freetime and now the new one apartment life! and the thing isnt my dvd rom..cos i had a new one installed (as i thought that might of been the problem) ive turned off all background tasks and ive gone directly to the cd to load and through start menu and every other way!!! i tell ya im geting pretty fed up with the sims because of this!!!! |
It's not your computer causing the problem, you can thank EA for using SecuROM on their discs to prevent pirates from stealing their game. Problem is, it also prevent sthose of us that actually paid for the game from playing it as well.
Try reinstalling as suggested. Good luck mate. |
i had the same problem. but i fixed mine.
heres what you do. *right click on the desktop icon of the sims 2 * click on properties *click on the compatablilty tab *then click the box and make sure its set on windows xp sp2 do that to all the sims 2 desktop icons then restart your computer :] |
I finally got the bloody thing to load!!! i seeked advice from Numenor at mod the sims. Heres a link to the website.
http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Bypassing_Bon_Voyage_Launcher also Try deleting the "groups.cache" and "accessory.cache" files which are located in your C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2. TRUST me these get re generated every time the game reloads. So your not damaging or screwing up the game in any way. ill give you a link to the web site that others have said the same thing. Cos i was a bit worried when i heard to do that...but i copied the files put them on the desktop and deleted the ones in the folder and started up the game..... AND IT WORKED!!!!!! then when i exited the game and went back to that folder....they were there again. so i deleted the ones on the desk top and had no worrires doing this each time i wanted to play!!!! Thank you Numenor!!!!! you are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you saved my simmies!!! Heres the link.... http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=267350 |
well i have vista. but since sims 2 was created before vista came out then its incompatable. that is why you put it in compatability mode with windows xp SP2 by right clicking on the icon and going into properties and then going through the compatability tab and click the box that says "run this in compatability mode for" and the drop down menu should say windows xp SP2. do it to all of your game icons and nothing should go wrong. |
I had the same problems when installing sims2 on my brand new computer (a super computer in regards to RAM, speed, graphics card etc.) yesterday - after installing BV, FT and Apartment Life the game would NOT load at all - just went to black screen with nu progress from there. I tried bypassing the launcher, but no difference. Then, by coincidence I found a way to get AL starting up - I simply tried to put a WRONG DVD in the disc - the previous installed (Free Time) and hit start, then a window appeared asking for the correct AL-DVD, i put AL-DVD in the drive and BOOM the game started!! Maybe somewhat annoying way to have to use BOTH DVDs to run the newest but it worked somehow bypassing securom issues!! And all my game-DVDs are BOUGHT and therefore licensed as they should be, so I don't see the why there should be problems with securom.
I got tired of using two DVDs though and solved the whole issue by using NO-DVD-crack.. But try getting the game running by putting in a wrong sims2DVD (not the newest exp.), good luck!! Marie |

hi kailashpon,,,you must only check out if ur graphic card is powerfull enough to support the game dear,,,and if not thus remove the game n re-install it as may be some errors occured during installation dear ;-)
|
Yes. it DOES work getting the game loading after deliberately putting in an older EP. It has worked for me EVERY time I tried it but I eventually got tired of having to use two DVDs in order to play one, so I now use no-DVD crack which solves MY problem with black loading screen as this bypasses the securom.
