Hello,
ever since I installed the latest Internet Explorer (8) Adobe Flash Player wont work at all. For example - On sites such as : www.allsp.net and www.explosm.net - any video that requires flash wont play, and comes up with a small image in the top left hand corner of a few colourful shapes.

What can I do? I dont know how to uninstall INX 8, and I really want flash to work.
I have tried re-installing it, but it just says " save file" and not install, or run.

Suggestions please? I also tried it using the Firefox browser, same problem.

I have a possible solution that worked for me :-) I have windows 7. I tried several times to download, which it did. But when I went to youtube, I still could not watch the videos. (even after turning off pop-up blockers, virus, firewall, etc.) I found the problem. I went to Tools> Manage add-ons>Toolbars and extensions. In there, for some reason it said Adobe flashplayer 10 disabled. So I enabled it, and it fixed the problem!

The problem I had with IE8 watching flash videos from ABC, NBC, Fox etc., was that I had the Compatibility View Settings set to Display All Web Sites in Compatibility View. Go Tp Tools>Compatibility View Settings and uncheck Display All Web Sites in Compatibility View.

Win XP (Home version) SP3

After struggling with this problem for three weeks and trying various fixes (none worked), downloaded Google's Chrome browser and now I'm a happy surfer. Not going to miss
Internet Explorer.

Same here. I've tried all the recommended settings within the Internet Options, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. I dont know if it's a fail on Adobe's part or IE8... If you guys happen to find out anything let me know.

Hi,

The adobe flash player is not compatable with IE8, either use the update version for Adobe 10 or try with a lower version of Adobe.

Once you run the exe file for Adobe flash player, this would automatically change settings in IE8. After that you can try by using some sites that use web pages including Adobe flash player.

Flash Player 10 supposedly installs for me, but every day when I go to certain websites, a box pops up telling me I need to install Flash Player.

I've talked to both Adobe and Microsoft, but so far neither tech support has solved the problem.

It is not possible to use flash player with explorer 8. The 64 bit operating system on windows demands explorer 8 64 bit to surf the web using explorer. So basically until Adobe and Explorer work out that problem u r going to have to use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to view your porn and you tube videos using Flash

Like I have already stated, I am using the 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate. As for needing Flash Player to view "porn"...what the hell are you talking about?

Ihad the same problem since installing Flash Player and Control. Switching to Google Chrome as opposed to Explorer8 as the browser did the trick! Thanks Mike

Well I must be doing the impossible Mike, because I'm running IE8 with Flash Player Version 10.

well...putting the security settings to "medium" seems to have done absolutely nothing to solve my problem!

Remove flashplayer with adobe program: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html Restart computer. Download flashplayer from adobe downloads. Restart coputer. Start explorer.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried totally uninstalling and then reinstalling Flash Player several times. It was one of the first things Adobe suggested. Unfortunately, that does not solve the problem!

I had the same problem as everyone else. I just tried this and it works!

Go to

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#internet_explorer

then down to this part

If the ActiveX Control for Flash Player fails to install, download the executable installer.
If the information above has not resolved the issue, download the executable Flash Player installer here:

•Download and unzip Install_Flash_Player_10_ActiveX.zip.

It downloaded to my computer. Then when I went to youtube....It worked!!!!

Hope this helps.

Excellent ! Youtube embeded videos on my site displayed & ran fine in Firefox but not in IE. You're link and instructions fixed me up. Did the install, refreshed my site in IE and the videos popped right up and ran.

Thanks for taking the time to post and help us out!

I have the same problem, IE 8.0.6001.18702, Flash 10.0.22.87 on WinXP Pro SP3.
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

My IE hangs on the download link. I get the warning from Adobe's website that IE may throw the
"ActiveX Control" warning in the yellow info bar, but that info bar never appears in IE.
I have to force quit IE at this point.

On re-launch I go into IE8 tools and look at "Manage Extensions and Add-Ons" and the Adobe
Flash Player isn't listed.

When I'm done posting this, I'll try restarting, but that hasn't worked in the past.
Next I'm going to try downloading the installer and run it from my desktop with the browsers
not running.

Hi,

I had the same problem where I couldn't go past the download stage.

Just go to the bottom of the download webpage where there is a direct link to download and that downloads an .exe file. You don't need to wait for Active X. Adobe should be more proactive and make things easier for users. It should also have this bloody executable available on their website not just have everything automated if they are not sure that always works.

Nope. That didn't help either! Thanks for the suggestion though!

Use Mozilla Firefox. You will not have the problem with it. I have tried everything to get it to work on IE8 with Vista and no luck. But Firefox has zero problems running the Flash Player

yeah I tried mozilla it did'nt work

I just found a website that suggested the following. It has cured my problem to a certain degree. The videos were playing for me, but jolting. They are not jolting anymore. Maybe every now and then, but nowhere near as bad as before.

"Because IE 8 is new there are some websites that haven’t caught up to IE 8 and are not compatible with the browser. If you come to a site that doesn’t appear to load correctly you can try clicking on the Tools button on the Menu Bar and selecting Compatibility View. This will cause IE 8 to emulate IE 7 so you can still view pages that haven’t caught up to the new technology. If you are still having issues you can go to Adobe’s website and manually install the downloader instead of getting it through update."

Grrr actually youtube still not working properly. Very jumpy. Seems when it's fully loaded, if u play it from the start, it's fine. But as its loading it's definately a no-go.

I have another solution which has just worked for me.

I uninstalled IE8 from the add/remove programs. The computer restarts with IE7 but still, the problems remain.

I then did a system restore back to an earlier date before I had installed IE8 and now it totally works. My computers loads at the correct speed (2 mins, rather than 15), I have IE7 and my video/audio (both affected, not just online, but also vids/sound on my comp) all restored to how they were before.

I think there may have also been a problem with the latest java app installed, so might be worth checking when you last installed a java update.

Hope this helps someone out there!

Thanks Pawli. I had the same problem when I installed IE8. I restored to an earlier date before I loaded IE8 and now it is working perfectly.

Thank you paulu! That worked!

"Bottom in IE8 you have an icon "Manage Add-Ons" with a red circle and doubleclick it or go to TOOLS->Manage Add-Ons, select Shockwave Flash Object and enable it. Close the box and refresh your page with Youtube videos"

This seems to have worked for me. Thanks very much.

Think everyone's getting too techy over this - just run Secunia PSI and it will fix the problem with Adobe Flash.

That's when my trouble started.

I have had the same problem. Even after getting rid of Explorer 8 (BOOOOOO!) my flash player didn't work all on all of the sights. I have Windows XP and here's what finally worked for me.

To restore the computer to a previous state

In Windows, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
Follow the prompts to complete the restoration process.

Just choose a point date before you installed Exp. 8. YEAAAAAAAAAA

I was having this problem with Firefox. Whenever I tried to use the Full screen mode windows seems to freeze with colorful and crash and I had to restart my computer. I came across this site while trying to search for a solution and I just wanted to let you guys know what seems to work for me...

I found this solution on another site. It seems to happen with hardware acceleration turned on. I turn off the Hardware Acceleration for Adobe Flash Player and I it has not crashed yet for me...

Hi Guys,

I recently had this problem with a laptop which had IE8 installed using Microsoft Update. I tried everything from system restore, uninstall/reinstall flash, java, IE8 and nothing worked. Eventually after hours of trawling through the internet I found a registry tweak that cured it instantly, oh how I wish I had written it down as I now have another laptop doing exactly the same thing after an update.

I hope this gives the more technical of you a clue as to where the fix lives and if you figure it out could you let the rest of us know.

Cheers and good hunting.
