Hi,
you don't need to use a different router.
you just need to configure the router again.

How do you do that? TW wants to charge a fee to set up 2 computers wirelessly, with an additional fee for #3 through #5.

Hey Bubba,

May I know how you set-up your wireless connection thru Time Warner without paying extra amount? Right now I only have a regular TWC internet with an RCA cable modem provided by the company. I dont know what other equipment or what to buy. Please help.

You buy a wireless router and hook that up to your modem. I have 2 desktops and 2 wireless laptops on my time warner. I pay one fee.

If these laptops are both relatively new they should come with the wireless networking feature already installed. Once your network is set up on your base computer, I am assuming from your statement you have this hooked up already, on each of the laptops you will need to configure each of them to connect to your network (ie....your router). When you set up your router you had to apply your network name, password, you would have chosen to protect probably using the WEP, WPA feature (WPA stronger). You use those same items to set up each laptop..... Go to START, then on the right choose NETWORK, look towards the top of the box and you will see NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER. Another box will open and on the left side choose SET UP A CONNECTION OR NETWORK. Then choose "Manually connect to a wireless network", hit NEXT. You will then enter the same information that you used setting up your router..... NETWORK NAME (example: Dawn's Network), then the security type (WEP or WPA as I said earlier), then insert your passphrase, then put a check next to " start this connection automatically", then click on NEXT. The next page you will choose "CONNECT TO....." and then hit close at the bottom. You will now be connected to your network (router). You follow the same steps for each computer you wish to add to your network. I hope this helps.... Good Luck!

I am able to get basic cable, channels 2-74 or something like that. But I also pay for digitial cable and there are other cable wires in other rooms in my house, so, I do get basic cable on my other tv sets. Not sure if I would get it via the modem without having the digital service.

Hope this helps.

All you do is buy a router dls with maybe 4 ports. I use a linksys. you can buy one online for probably under 30.00 You plug the modem into the router where it says cable and then you plug the other wires into the other places. That's it. You use ethernet cables from your computers into the router. You don't have to be a scientist and linksys will actually help you, if you need it. I'll help you if you give me a call.

Hope this helps.
