Hello, I have a hp slimline 3120n that wont boot up. It has an available pci express slot, i know there is an issue with the onboard nvidea video processor but i was wondering if anyone else with this issue has installed a card and managed to bypass the onboard issue? Any info would be appreciated.I can get the onboard to work for a day or so by heating up the video processor with a heat gun but i want a more permanent fix. The unit is still under hp warranty if its not a refurbished unit and if you have a serial for the case, which i dont have.

Hi. I had the same problem last month with a computer and I found it was covered by HP extended warranty so It would be worth giving them a call. Or take a look for the link on the support site.

Hope that helps.

Hi!

I got the same problem. It is the third time that has been fixed, and it just has the same problem. The HP series slimline have a design problem, and no matter how many times HP replaces the motherboard, it does not seem to work. Just try to get the money back (you are entitle to after 2 times at service).

Have the same problem. Serviced 2X. Worked for the first 5 startups then no boot/video. What kind of money back policy are you referring to? Do you have details?

Thanks for posting your responses. I have had the exact same issue that was mentioned above (wont boot up, but powers up) and I just called HP and even though my computer was out of warranty by 3 months, they did extend the warranty FOR FREE and are sending a box for me to send my computer back to them to have a free motherboard replacement done. I highly recommend that anyone else having this problem to contact HP customer support and state their issue and they should take care of you. I was shocked. Thanks!
