Couldn't install Windows Live Messenger

Hello,Evrytime i install windows live show this box (use windows upadate to download the latest version of Windows Installer and try again)errormsi_0x80280002.What would i do?Pls I need your help.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

you need to update your windows installer.

I am trying to dl messenger it attepmts to DL then it rolls back with an error message whats going on???

Ive been same problem as everyone not being able to install Windows live Messenger. Been reading and trying all sorts of ways with no luck and frustration.
I finally got it to work, and thought i would share this with you.. heres what i did..

When Messenger was at about 95% it gave me an error and try again later.. blah blah..

I had AVG Free installed on my Windows7. Since you cant disable AVG Antivirus i Uninstalled it..
Turned off Firewall in Win7. and Rebooted..

Installed Messenger with the online installer and worked great!

After this i installed NOD32 Antivirus.. and re activated firewall..

Working great, hope this helps and saves a lot of people frustration. Cheers!
