How to change modem settings?

lushijial72, on Wednesday May 21, 2008 03:20:52 PM
Hello,

I have a Linksys cable Modem, model: BEFCMU10

I am having problems playing an online game, where i get constant disconnects. People have said that switching their modem/internet from G to B has fixed the issue.

The modem came with a CD, that helps in no way really. Basically tells you what to plug in, and where. I'm sure it has the drivers, but when I run 'detect new hardware' wizard, nothing comes up. Not even a USB modem like it says in the instructions.

I also have a wireless router connected, Linksys, Wireless G: WRT54GS

How can I tell what kind of network I am running? And how do I change it?
Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello

You should not use wireless if that is what you mean. Get a wired connection and turn off the wireless feature.

See also the logs in the web based setup. Usually the base number of the ip address your computer has. Common ip address to put in your browser are 192.168.0.1 or 1.1
